SULTAN BARGHASH’S PALACE

A living gateway to Zanzibar

Beside Mangrove Lodge, the remains of Sultan Barghash’s palace sit between garden, mangrove bay and sea. The place is part of the landscape guests encounter every day and an important thread in the story of Chuini.

The new website will give the Palace a dedicated page, combining verified history with family and local knowledge and the ways the place is genuinely experienced today.

Meet the place through its story

Guests can visit the ruins and encounter their story through verified interpretation and local knowledge. The final page should explain how visits work now, the practical conditions and the historically accurate name of the site without promising that Haji or Marina will personally host every visit.

A place in the present

Today the Palace is most closely connected to the Retreats offer. It can also support selected private events, arranged lunches and dinners, day visits and special experiences for lodge guests.

Gatherings

Retreats, workshops, creative gatherings and selected private events will be introduced through the Retreats and Palace pages. The public copy must separate what is available now from what is planned, with clear capacity, access, catering, pricing, permissions and stewardship.
